HAMNAF-SL Cares.
It is self-evident that Men and Women are created equal to live and enjoy planet earth. It is also self-evident that since years of yore, there has been no fair play in Men’s relationship with women and the victim mostly affected by this lack of fair play in political, Economic, Social and Moral honesty are women and children and with children, specifically the girl child.
It is a moral obligation for man to treat woman in equity which in most cases have not been the case, so women and children have borne the brunt of all types of human crisis, and it is out of the experience and the bitterness, psychological trauma, economic penury and a lot of deprivation that have made women and orphans victims in the situation on which they have no control and in which they are paying the greatest price in human spoliation that, the HAJA MARIAMA NAVO FOUNDATION – SIERRA LEONE (HAMNAF-SL) is born to provide succor for the enviable majority of women and children that are suffering in socio-economic deprivation that have hampered their dignity to stand with status before God and man.

History

The Haja Mariama Navo Foundation is in memory of the late Haja Mariama Navo. With the ten years of war in Sierra Leone the late Haja Mariama Navo when alive used her estate in Dambala, Bo, and Kenema as a shelter for vulnerable women, men, and children. As the war increases, the internally displaced in Kenema were brought to Bo and she used the compound in New London to provide shelter for most of them. When the Selenga Chiefdom was attacked, the destitute were provided with shelter in her No. 61 Ngalu Road estate which she also converted into a humanitarian centre for the homeless, doing everything within her means to cater for their welfare. At the end of the war, most internally displaced returned to their original locations. But a lot of widows and orphans remained which she undertook personally to take care of them.
With her passing in 2009, the Haja Mariama Navo Foundation was born with the aim of providing a better, safe, secure, and equal world for vulnerable people through advocacy, campaigns, psycho-social counselling and support.
